FiveFinger 10mi Cville Loop, lsd recovery run by mikeswelsh at Garmin Connect – Details.
Great run.
Couple of points about the new fivefingers.
- I never thougth i would be able to hold up for 10 miles
- I noticed around mile 4-5 i got faster
- my heart rate flucuated more and stayed lower on average than in sneakers, not sure what the fivefingers had to do with it.
- I felt my posture change and the running involved more of my core and balance muscles that sneakers do
- The forefoot striking takes a few miles to adjust but your body adjusts fast…surprised me
- I felt overall good during and now after the run…the run ended about 40 mins ago.
- The balls of my feet hurt a little…ill post a pic or two of the shoes later…
- Most obvious to me and important is what didnt hurt or didnt affect me, hills esp up-hills…I actually felt better up hill and was faster and more sure footed.
So not a conclusive experience but at least it felt better than running in my sneakers…
